What are the defects?
The automatic transmission output flange may develop wear due to torque fluctuation of the engine and as a result of frequent acceleration and deceleration.
What are the hazards?
This wear could allow the output flange bolt to come loose causing oil leakage and the transmission warning light to come on. In the worst case scenario, the driveshaft may detach from the vehicle while the vehicle is being operated. This may create an accident risk for the vehicle user and other road users or bystanders.
What should consumers do?
Owners will be contacted by letter and should return their vehicle to the nearest authorised Hino Dealership for inspection and repair at no cost.
