What are the defects?

Due to a manufacturing issue, the vacuum hose to the brake booster may become weak over time resulting in the potential for the hose to collapse when vacuum is applied. This could lead the brake pedal to become hard when applying the pedal repeatedly. As a result, increased pedal effort may be required to achieve the expected stopping distance.

What are the hazards?

If the defect occurs, it is then only possible to slow the vehicle with an increased level of brake pedal pressure. This may pose a hazard to the vehicle occupants and other road users.

What should consumers do?

Customers will be contacted by direct mail and they should contact their nearest Kia Dealer to arrange an inspection and repair free of charge.
