What are the defects?
Contact may occur between the wiring harness and the ABS modulator due to deviations in the assembly process. This will only occur if the wiring harness is frayed and in contact with the ABS modulator, and the brake line is electrically conductive. This may cause a conductive brake line to overheat and ultimately melt, which can result in failure of a brake system circuit.
What are the hazards?
If the brake system circuit fails it could result in brake failure, potentially causing a serious injury to the rider.
What should consumers do?
Consumers will be contacted by direct mail and should contact an authorised KTM dealer to arrange an appointment for an inspection of their motorcycle. The vehicle will be checked and repaired free of charge as per the manufacturers guidelines .
