What are the defects?
On some vehicles, the shape of the teeth on the parking brake sector gear may not meet specification.
What are the hazards?
Engagement between the sector gear and ratchet may be suddenly lost while the parking brake is applied, potentially causing unexpected movement of the vehicle if parked on a slope.
What should consumers do?
Consumers will be advised to present their vehicle to their preferred Mazda Dealer for the replacement of the parking brake lever at no charge.
