What are the defects?

The seat belt indicator and the front passenger air bag deactivation indicator lamps may not work correctly. The seat belt indicator may turn off when seat belts are still unfastened and the front passenger air bag deactivation indicator may turn off when the air bag is still deactivated.

There is no effect on the operation of the airbag system, however the system status may not be correctly displayed.

What are the hazards?

The driver may be unaware that their own or their passengers' seat belts are not fastened. This may pose a risk of serious injury to the vehicle occupants in the event of an accident.

What should consumers do?

Consumers will be advised to present their vehicle to their preferred Mazda Dealer to replace the occupancy indicator lamp assembly at no charge.
