What are the defects?
The Power-Train Control Module (PCM) software which controls the cylinder deactivation function may not operate correctly, and may cause an Intake Valve Rocker Arm to move out of position and make contact with other internal engine parts.
What are the hazards?
The malfunction indicator light may illuminate, the engine may lose power and may stall without the ability to restart. This could increase the risk of an accident and injury to a vehicle occupant or other road users. In the event of a serious accident this may result in death.
What should consumers do?
Mazda Australia will contact all affected owners. Owners will be advised to present their vehicle to their preferred Mazda Dealer to reprogram the PCM at no charge.
Consumers who require further information should contact Mazda Customer Support on 1800 034 411.
