What are the defects?
The steering wheel boss, which is connected to the steering column, may not have the appropriate strength. If a load is applied to the steering wheel which is higher than the load applied during normal steering operation, the boss may separate from the steering column.
What are the hazards?
If the defect occurs, this will result in loss of steering control, posing an accident hazard.
What should consumers do?
Owners of vehicles within the affected VIN range will be advised to contact their Nissan Dealer to arrange for an inspection of the steering wheel batch number and where necessary replacement of the steering wheel. The rectification will be at no cost to owners.
