What are the defects?
Vehicles may have been manufactured with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) actuator with an oil seal that may leak brake fluid internally.
What are the hazards?
If the brake fluid leaks, an ABS warning lamp will illuminate to alert the driver. If the vehicle continues to be operated in this condition, the brake fluid leak may create an electrical short in the actuator circuit, which in rare cases could potentially lead to a fire.
What should consumers do?
Affected consumers will be contacted by Nissan Australia for a free vehicle inspection. If necessary, ABS actuator replacements (parts and labour) will be carried out at no cost to consumers.
