What are the defects?
Vehicles have been manufactured with an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) actuator with an oil seal that may leak brake fluid internally.
What are the hazards?
If this occurs, an ABS warning lamp will illuminate to warn the driver. If the vehicle continues to be operated in this condition, the brake fluid leak may create an electrical short in the actuator circuit, which could lead to a fire.
What should consumers do?
Affected consumers will be contacted by Nissan Australia to arrange the replacement of the ABS actuator at no cost to consumers (parts and labour).
Consumers of affected vehicles are advised that if they see the ABS warning light continuously illuminated (10 seconds or longer), they should park their vehicle outside and contact Nissan Roadside Assistance for assistance.
Consumers can find their nearest dealership at https://www.nissan.com.au/find-a-dealer
For further information, please contact the Nissan Customer Service Centre toll free on 1800 035 035 (Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 6pm AEST).
