What are the defects?
An internal ignition switch spring may have been manufactured with a surface defect.
What are the hazards?
After prolonged normal usage, the engine could unexpectedly turn off while driving. If this coincides with a road traffic accident, the vehicle’s airbag system may not function.
What should consumers do?
Consumers should contact their nearest Nissan dealer to arrange inspection, and if necessary, replacement of the mechanical key ignition switch assembly. The inspection and/or rectification will be at no cost to owners.
