What are the defects?

There is potential for the 'brake pad worn' warning message to not be permanently displayed, resulting in the driver not being informed that the brake pads have worn out. The warning message can be suppressed until the car is next started.

What are the hazards?

If the warning message is ignored consumers could use the vehicle with worn out brake pads. This may lead to a higher risk of an accident or serious injury.

What should consumers do?

Affected owners will be contacted by mail or can contact their nearest Porsche dealer to arrange for the reprogramming of the instrument cluster software of the vehicle. The car will be reprogrammed with updated software.
