What are the defects?
Affected vehicles have an engine wire harness connected to the hybrid vehicle Power Control Unit located within the engine compartment. A portion of the wire harness could contact the connector cover and wear over time, causing an electrical short circuit.
What are the hazards?
If sufficient heat is generated, there is an increased risk of a vehicle fire.
What should consumers do?
Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Toyota Australia, asking them to contact a Toyota Dealership to arrange inspection and rectification of the engine wire harness free of charge.
