What are the defects?
Certain MY18 Tiguan Allspace models from a limited production period may contain a defective passenger airbag. When the passenger airbag module was manufactured, the airbag may have been packed incorrectly, preventing it from deploying correctly in an accident.
What are the hazards?
If the airbag doesn't deploy correctly when the vehicle is in an accident it may increase the risk of injury to the vehicle occupants. This airbag recall is not related to any Takata recall.
What should consumers do?
Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Volkwagen Group Australia. Owners should contact their nearest Volkswagen Dealer to arrange for repair.
