In the subject vehicles, the headlamp dimmer switch contact points may overheat due to high internal electrical resistance caused by residue build up on the surface of the contact points. In the worst case, this overheating may cause the headlamps to become inoperative.
What are the hazards?
If headlamps were to become inoperative this could increase the risk of an accident and injury to a vehicle occupant or other road users. In the event of a serious accident this may result in death.
