What are the defects?

Cracks may develop in the lower inner panel of the rear car doors (around the B-pillar) where the front seat belt retractor is anchored. If the cracks occur in the panel, the seat belt retractor could become detached in a collision.

What are the hazards?

If the defect occurs, the front seat belts may not function as designed, presenting a serious risk of injury to the occupants in the event of a collision.

What should consumers do?

Customers will receive a letter instructing them to take their vehicle to their preferred Toyota dealer for inspection and repair. Repairs will commence from mid-April 2013.
