What are the defects?
Due to a programming error, the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) may fail to provide an adequate supply of electric power to the fuel pump following i-Stop operation. This may cause the fuel pump to stop operating, preventing the engine restarting or stalling after initial take off. If this occurs, the Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) on the instrument panel will illuminate.
What are the hazards?
If a vehicle fails to restart or stalls after i-Stop operation, a traffic hazard may result.
What should consumers do?
Mazda Australia will contact all affected consumers by mail, advising them of the next steps. Consumers who require further information should contact Mazda Customer Support on 1800 034 411.
