Identifying features

Specific vehicles within the VIN range SALVA2AN4GH07910 to SALVA2BNXGH099325

What are the defects?

The routing of the engine harness may not provide sufficient clearance and as a result, allow contact with the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) casting bracket.

Vehicles included in a previous safety Recall P075 have received a modification which has subsequently been determined as not durable for the life of the vehicle. As a result, the engine harness contact with the EGR casting bracket can cause the wires within the engine harness protective sleeve to wear through, exposing the actual wires which may short circuit to the metal bracket added as part of the Recall P075 repair.

What are the hazards?

There is potential that any circuit within the engine harness could be compromised due to this chafing condition or contact, which could result in a range of vehicle failure modes, including engine cut out whilst in motion. If the engine cuts out, the brake vacuum reservoir will be depleted and the vehicle will lose brake power assistance. Foundation brakes will continue to operate. This may pose a safety risk to the vehicle occupants and other road users.

What should consumers do?

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by direct mail. Owners will be requested to contact their preferred Jaguar Land Rover dealer to arrange an appointment to inspect the engine harness and if required, complete harness repairs. The dealer will also attach a revised extension to the existing bracket to ensure the correct engine harness routing.
