What are the defects?

The control unit for the seat occupancy recognition on the front passenger seat may not have been installed in accordance with specifications. This could cause the pressure hose on the control unit of the front passenger seat to kink. As a result, the control unit may incorrectly recognise occupation of the passenger seat and this could result in the front passenger airbag being disabled.

What are the hazards?

In the event of an accident this may increase the risk of injury to a front passenger seat occupant.

What should consumers do?

Letters will be sent to owners of affected vehicles, who will be advised of what their next steps are in obtaining a repair.
