What are the defects?
Vehicles are equipped with run-flat tyres with a sidewall reinforcement layer inside the tyre. Due to an improper assembly process, a crack may develop on the tyre sidewall reinforcement layer, expanding over time and potentially affecting the tyre deflection causing the temperature of the tyre to increase.
What are the hazards?
Under certain driving conditions, such as highway driving with low tyre pressure, portions of the tyre tread layer could separate, causing a reduction of vehicle stability and increasing the risk of an accident.
What should consumers do?
Lexus Australia will contact owners of the affected vehicles and request that they present their vehicle to their preferred Lexus dealer for rectification. Lexus will arrange alternative transport for the owner. This rectification will be carried out free of charge.
