VIN (Vehicle identification number)

What are the defects?

It is possible that the vehicles may mistakenly detect a correctly engaged seat belt as being not engaged. A warning tone and a warning symbol in the instrument cluster will inform the driver of this condition. This may cause the vehicle's PRE-SAFEĀ® function to not engage. This affects the front and rear seat belt buckles in the vehicle.

What are the hazards?

The PRE-SAFEĀ® function pre-tightens the seat belt if the vehicle detects an accident is about to occur due to its radar sensors. If this does not engage, the complete effect of the restraint system could not be ensured.

What should consumers do?

Affected consumers will be contacted by Mercedes-Benz to organise a free repair. Consumers can also contact their most convenient Mercedes-Benz retailer using www.dealerlocator.mercedes-benz.com.au
