What are the defects?
Due to poor stiffness of the rear licence plate bracket around the single mounting point, there is a possibility this may lead to cracking as a result of metal fatigue caused by vibration when driving on a rough (corrugated) roads. In this condition, the licence plate lamp wiring may sever, and the licence plate may dislodge from the vehicle.
What are the hazards?
If the rear licence plate bracket becomes detached from the vehicle whilst it is being driven, it would increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to other road users and bystanders.
What should consumers do?
Owners of affected vehicle can contact Toyota and make an appointment at their preferred Toyota dealer for inspection and replacement of the licence plate bracket free of charge.
