What are the defects?

These vehicles are not known to comply with Australian Design Rule 69/00 Full Frontal Impact Occupant Protection which is an import safety standard. The compliance plate fitted to the vehicle is therefore not valid.

In these circumstances the compliance plate should be removed from the vehicle. This would indicate that the vehicle does not meet the roadworthy requirements of the States and Territories and thus the registration would be cancelled and could not be renewed.

In this particular case the Administrator of Vehicle Standards has decided to allow the compliance plate to remain on the vehicles provided that an additional placard indicating the non-compliance is placed adjacent to the compliance plate in the engine bay.

What are the hazards?

Full frontal impact occupant injury.

What should consumers do?

TVR out of business. Department of Transport & Regional Services is conducting the recall. Where the vehicle is currently registered the Department will send the required placard to the registered keeper of the vehicle. The registered keeper is required to affix the placard to the vehicle adjacent to the compliance plate in the engine bay.

Where the vehicle is not registered the Department will supply a placard on demand. Meanwhile the vehicle will not be able to be registered.
