What are the defects?
Due to a manufacturing defect, the wiring of the rear left and right airbags may have been reversed. Attempted deactivation of a side airbag may result in the opposite side airbag being deactivated and the intended airbag remaining operational.
What are the hazards?
In the event of an accident the airbag on the incorrect side of the vehicle may deploy. If a child seat is fitted on one of the rear seats and the airbag is operational due to reversed wiring, it could potentially inflate with the child seat on it increasing the risk of injury or death.
