What are the defects?
Due to a manufacturing defect, the threaded nut connecting the negative terminal for the 48 Volt electrical system under the front passenger seat may not have been tightened sufficiently. If the terminal loosens this could result in higher than intended temperature and cause a vehicle fire.
What are the hazards?
A vehicle fire could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users or bystanders.
What should consumers do?
Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Mercedes-Benz and are asked to arrange with their nearest authorised Mercedes-Benz dealership to have the work carried out as soon as possible.
