What are the defects?
Due to a manufacturing issue, the seat-back frames were not manufactured with the minimum radius criteria to meet the requirements of the Australian Design Rule (ADR 3/03 Seats and Seat Anchorages). The front seat back frames were manufactured with a sharper angle near the headrest than specified by the ADR.
What are the hazards?
The seat-back frames do not comply with Australian Design Rule (ADR 3/03). In the event of a collision this condition may increase the risk of injury to rear seat passengers.
What should consumers do?
Toyota will contact affected owners in writing, requesting to make an appointment with their preferred Toyota dealer to rectify the front seats, free of charge.
