What are the defects?

Due to a manufacturing defect, the high-voltage battery housing in affected vehicles have an insulation fault. This may cause the vehicle's battery to turn off when driving resulting in a loss of motive power and, in the event of water ingress a vehicle fire.

Note: the following message will appear on the central display, "You can continue driving. High-voltage system. In order to avoid subsequent damage, have the issue checked by the Service Partner".

What are the hazards?

A loss of motive power and/or a vehicle fire could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users and bystanders, and/or damage to property.

What should consumers do?

Owners of affected vehicles should immediately contact their preferred authorised MINI dealer or the BMW Australia Recall Hotline below to schedule an appointment to have the high-voltage battery housing checked for any leaks and, if required, replace any damaged parts, free of charge.
