What are the defects?

Due to a manufacturing defect, a component of the brake booster system may have been incorrectly welded and could break. If this occurs, a higher pedal force will be required and the braking distance may be extended. In addition, the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) systems may not function.

Note: Drivers will be alerted by the brake warning light in the instrument cluster and a message will appear on the central display.

What are the hazards?

A reduction in braking performance and/or a loss of vehicle control could increase the risk of an accident, causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.

What should consumers do?

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by BMW Australia to schedule an appointment at their preferred authorised MINI dealer to get the work carried out, free of charge.
