What are the defects?

Due to a manufacturing defect, the electrical connector in the transmission wiring harness may allow moisture to enter resulting in a short circuit. This may lead to thermal overload when the vehicle is parked resulting in a vehicle fire.

What are the hazards?

A vehicle fire could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants, bystanders and/or damage to property.

What should consumers do?

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Mercedes-Benz in writing, requesting you to schedule an appointment with your authorised Mercedes-Benz dealership to have the work carried out as soon as possible, free of chargec.
