What are the defects?
Due to a manufacturing issue, the second-row seat frame mid-bar may not have been manufactured to the required specifications. As a result, if a second-row seat is stowed when the other part of the bench seat is upright, the occupant could come into contact with the end of the seat frame mid-bar.
What are the hazards?
In an event of an accident, if the rear seat occupants come into contact with the end of the seat frame mid-bar, it could increase the risk of serious injury.
What should consumers do?
Toyota will contact affected owners in writing, requesting they make an appointment at their preferred Toyota dealer who will install the rear seatback protector, free of charge.
