What are the defects?
Due to a manufacturing defect, the propeller shaft to the first rear axle may have not been welded to the required specifications. As a result, it could cause the propeller shaft to break at the welding point resulting in a loss of motive power whilst driving.
What are the hazards?
A loss of motive power whilst driving could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users.
What should consumers do?
Hino will contact affected owners in writing requesting they make an appointment with their nearest authorised Hino dealer to have the propeller shaft replaced, free of charge.
