What are the defects?

Due to a software issue in the skid control unit ECU, a higher pedal force may be required increasing the braking distance under certain driving conditions.

What are the hazards?

A reduction in braking performance could increase the risk of an accident resulting in injury or death to vehicle occupants, and/or other road users.

What should consumers do?

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Toyota, asking them to schedule an appointment with their preferred dealer to have the software updated, free of charge.
