What are the defects?
Due to a manufacturing defect, certain low ATM trailer safety chain u-bolts may not comply with ADR requirements for structural strength. As a result, In the event of the trailer unhitching from the tow vehicle whilst in transit, the safety chain may fail resulting in the trailer becoming detached from the tow vehicle.
What are the hazards?
A loss of trailer control and/or detachment from the tow vehicle whilst being towed will increase the risk of an accident and serious injury or death to the vehicle occupants and other road users.
Trailers are not compliant with ADR 62/00 - Mechanical Connections Between Vehicles.
