What are the defects?
Due to a manufacturing issue, the park brake lever may fracture and fail. If this occurs whilst applying the park brake the parking brake may not engage, this could result in unintended vehicle movement.
What are the hazards?
An unintended vehicle movement increases the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle operator and other road users.
What should consumers do?
Consumers should not solely rely on the park brake system to hold the trailer stationary. Unless attached to the towing vehicle, the trailer should be secured with wheel chocks. The trailers normal service brake is not affected by this fault and can still be towed safely.
