What are the defects?

Due to a manufacturing defect, the mounting bolts and nuts that are used to secure the hitch to the towbar of the brush chipper may not meet specifications. If the hitch mounting bolts loosen or break, this could result in the towbar detaching from the brush chipper.

What are the hazards?

If the towbar detaches from the brush chipper whilst being towed, this will result in a loss of stability and control, increasing the risk of an accident and serious injury or death to the vehicle occupants and other road users.

What should consumers do?

Owners of affected brush chipper can contact their preferred authorised Vermeer dealer immediately to install the correct hardware, free of charge.

Should a Vermeer dealer have to travel to a customer’s location, Vermeer will provide reimbursement for travel expenses in accordance with its policies and standard practices.
