What are the defects?
The clock spring electrical connection between the steering wheel airbag, horn and electrical systems may be prone to dust entry and possible failure. If this occurs, it could result in a loss of steering wheel illumination, non-functioning steering wheel control switches, inoperative horn, and the airbag warning light will illuminate.
What are the hazards?
In the event of an accident, an airbag not deploying as intended could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants.
What should consumers do?
While it is safe to continue driving the vehicle, owners should contact their respective dealers to arrange an appointment to have the vehicle inspected and the work carried out.
